In 1970, Bob & Dorothy Casper purchased the Cherokee Tavern and renamed it Caspers' Cherokee Sirloin Room. It was a small neighborhood bar and restaurant seating sixty guests.

In 1987, the Casper brothers purchased the Cherokee Sirloin Room and have continued the traditions that were established by their parents. In 1991, a second restaurant was opened in Eagan.

They opened the doors of their restaurant in West St. Paul to those in need and served a complete Thanksgiving Day dinner at no charge to the guests. The tradition continues to this day growing into an event in which they serve over 2500 meals with the help of many volunteers and donations from others.

We've been going to the "Cherokee" for over 20 years and until just recently have found the food good, etc. Now the portions are becoming smaller and the general cleanliness of the restaurant leaves something to be desired. (These comments are about the West St Paul location.)
